Short-term paid position
I am looking for 2-4 students (at least one male and one female) to assist with an overnight program at the Kelleys Island Field Station May 10-12 and then again May 17-19. For those of you not familiar with this area, Kelleys Island is in the western basin of Lake Erie and a very cool place.
We are hosting 2 Cleveland high school teachers and 20 high school students the first week and 3 teachers and 30 students the second week. Responsibilities would be of the chaperone variety, helping us monitor the students, particularly in the evening and overnight, and engage them in some camp-type activities in the evening.
Other adults will be responsible for instruction, so it is not necessary you know anything about the work we will be doing (bird-banding, exploring glacial groves, examining biodiversity and collecting fossils in an abandoned quarry, collecting and analyzing water samples from Lake Erie, introduction to astronomy, and some other cool stuff).
The primary qualification is the willingness and patience to spend three days and two nights with a bunch of teenagers. Previous camp counselor experience is a plus, but not necessary.
Compensation is $400 per session. Email James Bader (jxb14) if you have any questions.
